Before you start tagging animals, livestock and other living creatures such as birds, rabbits, turtles, shell fish, iguanas, monkeys and zebras, you should understand the basics of the ISO RFID standards and how it may or may not affect what you can or can't do legally.

Current ISO RFID standards for animal tracking are ISO 11784 and ISO 11785.  The air interface standard ISO 14223-1 is an extension of the two standards and is supposed to be implemented in the reader for full ISO RFID compliance.

OPRFID.com offers 125 kHz RFID Animal Tags and 134.2 kHz.Animal Tags but is not able to sell the 134.2 kHz. glass tags where patent issues may exist.

Our 125 kHz RFID Animal tags are available at a far more reasonable price than the 134.2 kHz tags.  And if you need to tag aardvarks, birds, snails, turtles, zebras and other such creatures we have excellent 125 Khz. Animal Tag solutions that work very well.

A smart card is a small plastic card containing a computer chip. People use smart cards along with personal identification numbers (PINs) to log on to a network, a computer, or a device. Using a smart card is more secure than using a password because it's more difficult for someone to steal a smart card and learn your PIN than to learn your password.Smart cards are generally issued by information technology (IT) departments in large organizations. To use a smart card, you also need a smart card reader—a device that’s installed in or connected to your computer and that can read the information stored on a smart card.
