Clear Plastic Cards

     Clear and clear frosted cards are the most popular cards we sell, and probably because we are the best at designing and printing them. In fact, we are one of the few suppliers printing on both sides of the card in full color (we can print different images on both sides as long as the shapes of both sides mirror each other). We also offer almost all the same options on clear glossy and clear frosted cards that are available on the opaque cards, options like signatures strips, magnetic stripes, spot UV etc.
     Clear plastic cards or transparent plastic cards are popular especially for business card purposes because their uniqueness makes them stand out. Businesses feel that consumers are more likely to hold onto these cards because they are different and can become conversation pieces. Clear plastic cards can be completely translucent with just text and images that can be seen through, or partially clear or completely opaque in desired areas.

     What's better? Clear glossy or Clear frosted cards?
     Transparent cards are available in a clear glossy or clear frosted finish, however, there are two major advantages in choosing a clear frosted finish:
1. Higher Scratch Resistance than the clear glossy finish.
2. Greater Contrast for Design (the frosted finish provides a milky white base which increases the visibility and brightness of printed colors.
    All our clear plastic business cards include a white backer. What this does is help your design standout. We automatically white back as much of the design as possible unless your design element is too small or thin (less than 2 points at the smallest point), or you request it in the order instructions during checkout. We can also create a white halo effect on text or images that would normally be too small to white back, it simply adds a white border but makes your smallest text stand out more.
     What is a White Backer?
     A white backer is a coating put behind design elements to make them standout and make the colors look bolder. With two sided clear plastic designs the white backer is sandwiched in between elements.      What is Matte Varnish?
     A matte varnish serves a few purposes when printing on plastic. The main purpose it serves is to apply a slight frosted look to the clear plastic so that it is not completely clear yet still very transparent. You only require varnish on the back to create the frosted effect, there will still be a slight gloss on the front. Additionally the varnish creates a matte surface that is not glossy but a dull finish that can be written on with a pen. Matte varnish is rarely used on the front, but some users request a dull finish to both sides.
